Monster of the Day #1834

No inappropriate adjective, but what’s with that apostrophe? Anyway, I hope everyone had a good weekend.

  • Beckoning Chasm

I think the apostrophe comes from “Halloween” being a contraction of “All Hallows Evening,” so the “e’en” represents “evening.”

Yes I am a cat. Why does everyone keep asking that?

  • Gamera977

‘Pitch, are you staring at my butt again?’

    ‘No ma’am…’

  • Gamera977

Well, these are older paintings. Perhaps the cat didn’t evolve into it’s current form until recently? ;)

  • Gamera977

BTW: I didn’t see ‘The Haunting’ listed on TCM’s schedule this Halloween :(

But I picked up Shirley Jackson’s novel and am going to read ‘The Haunting of Hill House’. Has anyone seen the Netflix miniseries based off the novel/movie? I’ve been hearing good stuff about it.

  • You are no fun.

  • BGBear_rnh w/oofferinganyproof

My cat has evolved into fat and lazy from a skinny arched back ancestor of yore.

  • BGBear_rnh w/oofferinganyproof

I know you are correct but the apostrophe always seemed so randomly placed.

  • Beckoning Chasm

    True!

  • It was my last drill ever. Even spending Friday night on a pitch-black range in a raging nor’easter firing a pistol I could not see at a target that didn’t exist with hands I couldn’t feel could not keep it from being a great weekend.

  • My cat looks surprisingly like this one, except for the little white patch just below her chin that allows all the evil to escape so she collapses into a puddle of pure cute.

  • Eric Hinkle

Now there’s a proper Halloween witch.

  • zombiewhacker

I know, right? That’s got to be a first. The Haunting’s been virtually a staple on TCM during the Halloween season for as far back as I can remember.

Fortunately, I planned ahead and borrowed the DVD from my library a few weeks ago, so I’m caught up. :)

    I especially like the Batowl.
