Monster of the Day #1809

That’s funny, I don’t remember this scene.

  • Beckoning Chasm

“Check out my awesome action figures!”

  • kgb_san_diego

Attack on Titan with costumes for the Titans?

OT: Is there a tween fest coming up?

  • I just realized. There’s a dire shortage of Giant Killer Mummy movies. Godzilla v. Kharis really should be a thing.

  • Ericb

So, a giant mummy with a cemetery and a tree on his head?

  • Ken_Begg

Yikes, yes, October 6th, I believe.

  • zombiewhacker

Unless… maybe the Mummy is supposed to be normal-sized and the distressed damsel is actually Dollman-sized.

Aha! Mummy vs. Dollman! Or better yet, Mummy vs. Puppetmaster!!!

Is Charles Band still around, by any chance?

  • Flangepart

Erupting from the grave…and growing every minuet!

  • The Rev.

Not only is he still around, they just released Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich. Apparently it’s a reboot, rather than yet another entry in the increasingly convoluted timeline of the original series. Most of them don’t look much different than before, which is fine since I always loved the designs…with the exception of the new Blade, whose face is rather different. Not sure what I think of it. There’s at least one new puppet, a frog man, by which I mean an amphibian/man hybrid, not a SCUBA diver. Plus, Udo Kier is Toulon, so if nothing else that’ll be entertaining.

  • Ken_Begg

Marvel had a giant mummy character, I think.

  • Never knew that, but it doesn’t surprise, seeing as we’re talking Marvel.

  • zombiewhacker

Is the puppet gunslinger with multiple arms still around?

  • Eric Hinkle

I remember him from a recent massive hardcover collection of Marvel’s monster comics: “Gomdulla, the Living Pharoah!”

  • Eric Hinkle

And didn’t Ultraman once fight a giant mummy monster?

  • Not sure about that. I do know there was a giant mummy on Battle of the Planets/Gatchaman

  • The Rev.

Not too long ago I saw a “movie” constructed of a few “Gatchaman” episodes stuck together. The mummy one was included. Weird, that.

The only giant mummy I can think of was in “Mighty Jack.” The original “Ultraman” had a regular-sized mummy monster, but no giant one. I’ve recently been watching “Ultraman Leo,” and they had a run of episodes with horror-themed monsters. While there was an alien vampire who turned into a giant bat monster and an alien werewolf, no alien mummy.

  • Eric Hinkle

Well, at least I correctly remembered the presence of a mummy in Ultraman, een if I thought he was giant. Thanks for the correction.

  • Eric Hinkle

Yeah, I remember. Loved that show; Princess/Jun was probably my first crush as a boy.

  • The Rev.

Six Shooter was in quite a few after III, including the recent “Axis” trilogy. It doesn’t look like it’s in Littlest Reich, though.

  • Ken_Begg

Ah, the Monsterbus! There are two editions of that, actually.
