Monster of the Day #1770

I’d never even heard of this film that I’m aware of. However, it was featured in the simply massive survey of 70s and 80s exploitation flicks Nightmare USA, which I’m currently reading during lunch hour at work.

The film is in color, this image is from a lobby card.

Interesting to note that one of the actors in this low budget pic, William Ragsdale, went on to star in Fright Night.

(Assuming my internet search is correct. I never heard of this movie before either. I had to look it up.)

If the search you and I did was correct, Dr. Freex reviewed this many years ago.

    Thumbs up or down?

The guy who wrote Nightmare USA was quite a fan. He said it started slow but really got going before the end. It’s on YouTube but the print looks VERY fuzzy.

Thanks for the info. I might just check it out sometime.

Ken, speaking of horror anthologies on YouTube, you really owe to yourself to finally see The Monster Club.

As I’ve mentioned before, it’s not nearly as bad as its reputation would have you believe — merely ultra-cheap looking.

And it’s got one heck of a cast.

Okay, what movie is this thing from? And what is it? It looks like some mutant killer gorilla.

  • Ken_Begg

    That’s a great suggestion. Thanks!

Screams of a Winter Night (1979)

  • The Rev.

Dr. Freex did not like it at all. It got the dreaded blood drop rating.

Not saying it’s an unsung classic, merely that it’s watchable. Price and Carradine are great fun in the host segments, and the third story (with Stuart Whitman) is easily the best of the anthology.

(Though Donald Pleasance and his team of bumbling vampire hunters are good for a few chuckles in story two.)
