Monster of the Day #1759

“Look, you’re very pretty. You’re just kind of fat for my tastes.”

  • Beckoning Chasm

That’s really nicely painted. Sort of like if Maxfield Parrish did horror magazines.

  • KeithB

Isn’t the 10,000 year old man Mel Brooks?

  • Gamera977

I wonder which story is illustrated by the cover? Looks like it would fit with pretty much all of them.

  • Gamera977

    Or maybe George Burns.

  • Flangepart

‘Uncanny, creepy, spooky tales’…They had better be! Kinda what the readers are expecting?

Dress like Maude and you’ll be beating them off with a stick.

  • A couple observations:

The girl’s not interested in the skeleton. Her eyes are on something off screen. Whatever or whoever it is she’s looking at doesn’t seem to scare her. To me, that’s more of a “I don’t believe I heard that right” type of face

The skeleton itself doesn’t seem to be grabbing her. The hands look stiff. Puppet like. He also seems to be hovering a bit off the ground.

Based on these two observations, it’s clear she’s doing some audience participation on stage. The skeleton is a puppet and the puppeteer has just made some sort of social faux pas. Probably admitted to liking Pauly Shore movies or the like.

  • Eric Hinkle

I don’t know if anyone here will care, but Harlan Ellison just died.

  • Beckoning Chasm

I saw that yesterday. So much for a remake of “The Oscar”!

  • Eric Hinkle

OTOH now Harlan can have a nice long chat with Roddenberry over the due credit for ‘City Out of Time’!

I wonder if old Bony up there is any relation to the similarly flesh-obsessed skeleton from ‘House on Haunted Hill’?
