Monster of the Day #1376

Take that, Ray Milland!

  • Oh dear God WHAT DID THEY DO TO BEN GRIMM? WILL THE MADNESS IN COMICS NEVER STOP? WHY?! WHY?!!! WHY?!!!!!!!!!!!!

    or,

“Hey look! There are funny blue things coming towards us.”

“Never mind them. Check out the strange metal box on treads over there!”

  • Gamera977

Now he’s half the Fantastic Four just by himself…

  • Rock Baker

This looks like it would’ve made for a neat 50’s monster movie! At the very least, an episode of Ultraman…

  • I sort of think that with most of Marvel’s monsters (though me being me I think Spectreman over Ultraman.)

  • Chris Metzinger

    Stan’s note to the artist:
    “Jack-
This week it’ll be The, um… Two-Headed thing! Just draw, y’know, whatever muscle memory brings ya, I got Rangers tickets tonight! Excelsior!”

  • The Rev.

I thought Ultraman as well. I’m not familiar enough with Spectreman, and it’s not nearly weird enough to be in Zone Fighter. Maybe Johnny Sokko, although he’d be one of the less weird ones in that show.

  • Flangepart

    Greatest weakness, VERY indecisive.

  • Marsden

Marvel really never wasted anything, did they? Some weird little one off idea, no way, their bring it back until it works.

  • Luke Blanchard

At the time Marvel’s line was small and partly consisted of humour titles drawn in an Archie-ish style, like MILLIE THE MODEL. There’s a story in MILLIE THE MODEL #107 where Millie is assigned to model for Jack Kirby. It’s all about Kirby’s being an artist of monster comics.
The above critter appeared in STRANGE TALES #95, which came out in the month between FANTASTIC FOUR #3 AND #4 (and the month after that Millie story.)
