Monster of the Day #1195

As I noted yesterday, I haven’t seen this, but if history has taught me anything, it’s that dinosaurs shouldn’t fight next to a cliff.

But how else will Rex get the stegasaurous to push back?

  • bgbear_rnh

    Safety rails are needed.

  • Gamera977

The dinosaurs went extinct due to the lack of OSHA inspections…

I’m not sure but it looks like that two-legger has a horn on his muzzle. What was the name for the horned one (aside from Jabootu, if he was around back then) — Taurosaurus?

  • Gamera977

I think you’re thinking of Ceratosaurus though I believe there was a Taurosaurus too though I can’t find anything with a websearch.

  • kgb_san_diego

There are several two-leggers with horns, but Ceratosaurus is the one most think of. Taurosaurus is much like a Triceratops.

    and smoking

  • Eric Hinkle

Thanks. Argh, I used to know all about dinosaurs.

  • Eric Hinkle

    Thanks!

    And eating red meat.

I read an interview with Ray once where he described the making of these puppets. Unlike the usual method, these were sculpted and then cast as hollow rubber bodies fitted over the armature. This was then filled with a liquid substance akin to a Fix-A-Flat procedure. I think it was a time-saving technique, and it wasn’t the optimal form of stop motion puppet. They sure look good on screen, though!

  • The Rev.

Maybe Gamera was thinking of Carnotaurus, which was a theropod with a horn above each eye, rather than Torosaurus.

  • Gamera977

Right on target Rev, when I got home I looked it up- Carnotaurus- ‘flesh-eating bull’ is exactly the one I was thinking of.
