Monster of the Day #1137 [UPDATED]

“S-s-s-s A-a-a-a F-f-f-f E-e-e-e T-t…”

UPDATE: More pics!

  • Beckoning Chasm

Irwin Allen just couldn’t resist goofiness, could he?

  • Flangepart

“Uh, ya got a little underarm gook…”
Took the costume outta the mold a bit too soon,eh?

  • bgbear_rnh

But, you know, someone has to try it. Making a film with a flipped ship sounds goofy too (OK it is goofy).

  • bgbear_rnh

Many children were disappointed that brine shrimp did not resemble the Joe Orlando illustration in the comic book.

  • Gamera977

One of the Doctor’s Jelly Babies grew to giant size and turned on him???

What on Earth is this, looks like he’s made out of licorice!?!

  • Gamera977

He does look sorta like a badly molded vinyl monster garage kit before you clean up all the flash and mold lines…

  • sandraW

    ARRGH ! It’s the Plastecine Monster !

  • Beckoning Chasm

I sure with the Amazing Live Sea Monkeys TV show would come to DVD some day.

  • Beckoning Chasm

“Picture yourself on a ship underwater/With plasticine monsters a lurking surprise” (Original draft)

  • Flangepart

Nice lyric, Ringo. Odd how the flying sub is yellow, hey?

  • bgbear_rnh

Well you should see the Plastecine Man
He’s not so good-looking and he looks like spam

  • Eric Hinkle

That’s a Dr. Who monster, right?

  • Beckoning Chasm

Nah…from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Late in the show’s run I think. Like everything else in the universe, you can see this on YouTube. Look for Doomsday Island.

  • Eric Hinkle

Thanks; I should have recognized, it lacks that endearing ‘cheap but clever’ feel of a lot of classic Who monsters.

And I’ll keep my eyes open for the episode, maybe I can catch it on TV now that Heroes & Icons is running ‘Voyage’ every night.

  • Rock Baker

    Cool!
