Monster of the Day #1050

Sweet!

  • Craig Richards

    Space:1999?

  • Flangepart

    Yup. Gotta be.
The alien looks…kinda ‘low-function.’ Did it work with tentacles or telekenisis?
An alien dependent on a shower curtain for it’s look doth not impress.

Something I have been noting lately is watching old TV stuff in high def and realizing I am watching it in a way in which the producer never expected it to be seen. You can get away with a lot on a fuzzy 20 inch screen. I expect even these guys looked better on our old TV when I originally watch this episode.

I am watching many TV westerns right now where I have seen electric lights in “oil lamps”, various electric cables on the ground, modern lumber and plumbing fixtures, and one of my favorites, a palm tree along the stage coach trail. Also the use of stock footage was probably not as noticeable on a 20th century TV.

  • Eric Hinkle

Okay, and what did this bunch want in the show? I hope it was something more original than ‘Kill All Humans’ or ‘Conquer The World’. Y’know, like ‘Have you considered where you will be spending eternity, my unsaved friend?’

If dangerous and with no eyelids, they could be taken out with a spritz of lemon juice.

  • Luke Blanchard

They’re from a two-part story called “The Bringers of Wonders”. They had mental powers they used to convince the Alphans they had returned to Earth. They wanted to cause a nuclear explosion so they could feed on the radiation.

  • Eric Hinkle

Thanks for the explanation Mister Blanchard.

  • bgbear_rnh

I heard somewhere that the galaxy has a lot of natural fusion reactors just throwing out radiation like it was candy.

  • Luke Blanchard

Perhaps they only like processed food?

  • Rock Baker

Yes. In fact, this two-parter was packaged as a feature film as well, although I can’t remember the title.

  • Rock Baker

That’s just good stuff right there.

  • bgbear_rnh

I know that in the “zero” season of MST3K they did “Cosmic Princess” but, I believe that was a packaged as a film version of the first Maya episodes. Been awhile since I watched it.

  • Rock Baker

I wish someone would package the Moon Base Alpha movies into a collection. It’d be interesting to compare and contrast with the TV show.

  • Marsden

Kosh’s cousin Randy was all way giving the younger races the “eye”, no wonder the other Vorlons didn’t want him around.

  • Flangepart

    Rimshot!

Shower curtains with brown shoe polish and old seaweed…yeah, that’s it. Glad I can’t afford Hi-def.
