Monster of the Day #969

Water monsters, I just love ’em.

Hey, if Godzilla 2 and Pacific Rim 2 take off, maybe Marvel could do a Ulysses / Elsa Bloodstone moving, featuring some of these great monster. Man, that would be sweet.

  • Acethepug

Guessing Titano wasn’t copyrighted? Wasn’t that the name of the chimp sent into space that became gigantic, was able to shoot kyptonite eye-beams, and fought Superman?

  • Ken_Begg

Yes, so you must be correct.

  • Gamera977

I’m assuming either Tintano is a very short monster or that’s a very, very, deep harbor.

  • bgbear_rnh

Once again someone feels the need to stop and state the obvious when their life is on the line.

  • Eric Hinkle

If they made a movie out of the very lighthearted series Marvel did some years ago that brought the monsters into ‘modern’ times, like Electro the Robot with his awesome 32K computer brain, Fin Fang Foom the kung-fu using ancient Chinese dragon, Googam son of Goom, and Gorgolla the Giant Monkey from Borneo, I would so watch that. That was absolutely hilarious.

  • Ken_Begg

They never should have invited Zoidberg to that gamma bomb test.

  • bgbear_rnh

Must be part of the mating frenzy.

  • Chris Metzinger

For a “forgotten” monster, they all seem to remember his name pretty quick…

  • rtpoeman

How about a Groo (created by Sergio Aragones) movie?

  • Flangepart

“Feel the wraith of Zoidburg! Wait, is it warith or wrath…ah, who cares. Feel it how ever it’s spelled!”

  • Acethepug

Was that Nextwave? Could work, but they would have to be careful to resist the temptation to make it outright campy like the Adam West Batman (finally coming to DVD, yay!)

  • Eric Hinkle

No, this was a special thing they did several years ago when they issued several one-shot comical comics titles featuring the old monsters in ‘modern’ Marvel, along with some reprints of the original stories. This was a few years before either Marvel Civil War or One More Day, if that helps.

  • Eric Hinkle

Sorry, but Groo never did much of anything for me. That said if they did a good movie with him it’d probably make some bank at the theaters.

  • Eric Hinkle

He’s the monsters that Time forgot; the dockworkers remember him just fine.

Sorry to be off-topic, but I can’t view the “Marvel Studios vs. Warners…” post.
When I click on it from the home-page, all I see is the title; no post or comments
section. The title in the page is a link I can click, but when I click it, all it does is reload the postless page. I can see comments to it in the “recent comments” box,
but when I click on them I just get the same thing. Everything else on the
site seems to work O.K. Anyone know what is wrong?

  • Gamera977

I think there have been some wierd browser issues here before. I use Firefox at home and Chrome at work and the site seems to work fine but some people have had strange things happen.

  • Ken_Begg

Yes, the paperback addition is out of print. I have it on my Amazon list. Some day.
