Wow, gotta love it! While to me it would be more fun with real “drive-in” era movies, that’s still a great bunch of films for such an event. I keep forgetting for a lot of people today those ARE the classic old “B” films… *g*

  • Yeah, in fact, aren’t they knocking about a remake of The Evil Dead?

I agree also that a bunch of ’50s big bug movies would be great, but I don’t think it would sell. I do remember as a kid seeing Horror of Dracula, The Enbalmer (an Italian giallo-type deal) and Frankenstein’s Bloody Horror at a drive-in triple bill. Man, you’ve got to miss those days.

  • The Rev. D.D.

I never got to see that sort of thing at our drive-ins. We only went a few times, to see well-known movies, and by the time I was old enough to drive myself, they were all gone.
Still, I got to see Raiders of the Lost Ark on the big screen, and that’s a great (not to mention a very early) memory.

That event sounds great. I’d love to see those films in a drive-in setting. I bet the wirework in EDII is howlingly apparent, though.

I pray to all the gods I can think of that remake NEVER comes close to fruition. Stop ruining my beloved films with your lackluster, soulless abominations, Hollywood! *shakes fist*

I remember seeing a UFO invasion film featuring Robert Vaughn at my local drive in. When I saw it on ScFi a few years ago it brought back memories, also reminded me of how many nightmares even a lousy sci fi flick can give a little child. (Then again, my clueless parents took me to see Excalibur in the theaters. Strange way to get introduced to both excessive gore and sex while sitting beside your parents…)

OK, so not old enough for William Castle/AIP memories. But I do recall bragging about how many times I saw Star Wars, and being too young to see Jaws when it was released. Does that count?
