I abuse the vast powers conferred on me by this website…

Hey, have absolutely nothing to do Sunday morning?  Help me score some Cubs play-off tickets!  (I know, cart before horse.)

Let’s see, if I end up getting tickets to either game, I’ll….actually write a review of something.  How’s that sound?  Any sort of seats available would be fine, although the hundred dollar plus ones perhaps less so.  But if that’s all they have…

GO FORTH, MY MINIONS!!  SWAMP THE INTERNET IN THE NAME OF YOUR EVIL MASTER!!  BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

(Yes, I *do* realize I’m spitting in the wind here, thank you very much.)

Via the Internet: Visitors to the Cubs website – www.cubs.com – can purchase tickets online beginning at 9 a.m. CDT. — A virtual waiting room will be used for all Internet orders. The virtual waiting room will begin accepting customers at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 23rd. At 9:00 a.m. customers will be randomly selected from the virtual waiting room to begin purchasing tickets. All internet customers will need a valid cubs.com account. The Cubs recommend that customers sign up for an account prior to September 23rd.

A limited amount of ADA/Wheelchair Tickets will also go on sale at 9 a.m. CDT. The phone number for Wheelchair Tickets is 773-404-4107. In order to serve as many fans as possible, each customer will be allowed to purchase one (1) order for one division series game of up to four (4) tickets on September 23rd. This limit will be imposed by customer, household, phone number, credit card and email address. All orders that exceed this limit will be cancelled. Internet customers that use computer based scripting language will have all potential orders cancelled.

UPDATE:  Having attended last night’s game, in which the Cubs sleepwalked their way out of first place, I think it’s safe to say that getting playoff tickets will not be an issue.  Congrats to Brewers fans, because it looks like your team actually wants to win this.

I don’t drink, but this might not be a bad time to start.

    We hear and obey!!

  • Food

    We’ll getcha into the ballpark!

  • DrTeeth

Ya know, I’d obey, except I’m waiting for the lottery for Brewers playoff tix. Sadly, when that happens it means that you won’t need those Cubs tickets.

Now, should they drop off the face of the playoff race, you got it.

  • Thanks, guys (seriously), but as my update above indicates, I fear the *Cubs* won’t get us into the park. Being beaten is one thing, but looking like you’re just going through the motions in the midst of a play-off run is disheartening beyond belief.

DrTeeth, it isn’t over yet, but I have to say you guys are sitting pretty indeed.

  • Food

Nope. The Cubs’ll win it. You watch.

  • Well, if so, they better get their asses in gear, because they looked like crap last night, and it’s obvious Milwaukee isn’t going to give this thing away.

  • Food

They will. They have series left with the Pirates, Marlins, and Reds. No sweat. The Brewers have series with the Braves and Cardinals, and they finish with a four-game series against the Badres, who will likely be fighting for the mild card spot.

Nope! The Brewers are a good team, and it’s nice to see them have a winning season cuz they’ve been lousy for long enough; but these ain’t Harvey’s Wallbangers. The Cubs’ll win it, and you’re gonna see some playoff baseball.

  • Thanks, Food! If we ever establish a Jabootu morale officer, you’ve got the job!

I’m not sure that the Cubs are going to make the playoffs Ken, but I wouldn’t get too upset about them losing last night. Harang is tough on everyone. Today’s game is key. Plus the Brewers are going to run into the Braves and the Padres, who should put up more of a fight than the Oswalt-less Astros have.

I do know that if the Cubs make the playoffs (baseball prospectus gives them a 55% chance), I already have my playoff tickets in hand (technically in the mail, but as a season ticket holder, I am set).

  • I should note that my problem with last night’s game wasn’t that they lost, but that they looked increadibly uninspired.

BT, good for you, buddy. I know how miserable it can be going to five or six games a year (if they are the wrong games, and most of mine the last three years have been), so as a season ticket holder you deserve every ounce of pleasure this team can provide. I now hope they get into the play-offs even more for your sake.

  • bt

Not to hold a pity party or anything Ken, but I have had season tickets for the 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006 and now 2007 seasons. Can you see the flaw in my season ticket plan? Can you understand how badly I want them to at least make the playoffs this year?

  • Dude, there are people *entitled* to hold a pity party, and you are definately one of them. But it will all be worth it if they get into the WS this year. Not likely, but look at the Cards. A win tonight would help, especially one that doesn’t seem like a complete fluke.

    Cubs reminiscence:
I grew up in Spokane, Washington, which was where Ryne Sandberg grew up. When the Cubs won the division in ’84 with Sandberg leading the way, Spokane became Cub Country. The sixth grade teacher actually led the whole class into the library to watch the first three innings of Game 1 of the NLCS against the Badres. Sandberg’s high school, North Central High, named its ballfield after him when he won the MVP award that year. While the days of Sandberg, Sutcliffe, Moreland, et al are gone (to say nothing of KINGMAN!!!), I still wanna see the Cubs as World Champions while they’re still alive to see it.

  • The game blew last night, but Sandberg was the guest conductor. I could actually see him from my seat. It was pretty cool.

  • Food

There! Cubs win, Brewers lose. See? It’s begun already. Not a problem.

  • Don’t you know you have to wait until 2015 for your “World” Series win?
