Monster of the Day #804

Good dog!

and then we’ll have Spot rampage and trash the neighborhood and eat virgins . . .

  • Eric Hinkle

I wonder how many kids watching this show wished they had the Munsters for neighbors, if only so they could watch them take Spot for a walk?

  • Flangepart

“And toast some gang bangers…yeah, yeah, and that leads the Munsters to take over the town, and Cha-chung,Ismella sequal!”

  • bgbear_rnh

    “Breaking Mad Monster Party”

  • Ken_Begg

I did see a still where they represented Spot outside the house as a gigantic CGI dragon in full shot, because showing everything is ALWAYS better.

  • Rock Baker

I watched the episode last night where Herman wandered into the museum after taking Grandpa’s experimental sleeping pill and the curators thought he was an ancient mummy. A really good gag had Herman stopping at the door of the dinosaur hall and waving to the skeleton of an Allosaurus. “We have a little fella just like you at home!”

  • zombiewhacker

What, no MOTD for Pat Priest? Wasn’t she supposed to be the ugly one in the family?

  • Ken_Begg

Well, yeah, but I didn’t want to pick on the poor thing.

  • Rock Baker

And how would you have picked which Marilyn to use, anyway? Priest and Owens did the series, but wasn’t yet another girl playing the part in the movie?

  • bgbear_rnh

I think they kept trying to “fix” her looks but, kept failing. So sad, just like poor Donna Douglas.

  • Eric Hinkle

Talking about women of the Munsters, anyone else remember the time Herman accidentally got turned into a woman — a woman who looked like a female version of ‘normal’ Herman? All I can remember is ‘Hermana’ complaining about the guys at the nightclub she was working at kept hitting on her.

  • The Rev.

Ken (or someone else) can probably confirm this: I’ve heard Spot was portrayed by the Elasmosaurus from The Land Unknown. Is that true?

  • Rock Baker

That’s the story I heard, but look at the pic. It’s pretty obviously the Tyrannosaurus head that’s been reconfigured. Or else it’s a whole new prop that just looks like it. I’m not sure where the story came from that it was actually the water monster, it’s head wasn’t the right size at all to play Spot.

  • The Rev.

Mmmmmm….you’re right, it does resemble the T-rex more there, doesn’t it?
