TCM in October…

Correspondent Michael C. saved me a LOT Of time (assuming I’d have thought of it, now that I don’t have TV anymore) and assembled a list of TCM’s offerings for the Halloween season. So time to fire up the DVRs. It should be noted that all the times listed are EASTERN standard time.

[And if anyone was wondering if I could use a DVD-R of Billy the Kid vs. Dracula…why yes. Yes I could.]

Mike’s thoughts:

Once again, another TCM October of horror movie madness is upon us.

I guess I would be more excited this year if there were many surprises.  Instead, the folks at TCM (bless their hearts, they mean well) have regurgitated more or less the same movie lineup as last year, albeit with a few welcome exceptions (Horror Express on Halloween night, for instance).
I also have a few beefs with some of the scheduling.  You’d think that TCM would have reserved some of their best movies for Halloween day itself (and the nights immediately preceding.)  Instead, Night of The Living Dead takes its only bow on Oct. 4, 2013, likewise Dead of Night on Oct. 11, while the original The Haunting airs once on October 12 at 1:00 AM in the morning (WTF?).
And does anyone else besides TCM think that both Horror Castle and Castle of the Living Dead rate a Halloween day showing?  If spaghetti horror must on the menu for the day, why not a back-to-back showing of Black Sunday and Black Sabbath instead?
But, all in all, it rates as a very respectable list.  For newbies, anyway.  J

Dr. Strangelove seems a little out of place there… maybe in a roster of radioactive mutant movies it would fit?
