I live! (Although the ten inches of snow we got this weekend didn’t help.)
So I was in Dallas for T-Fest. I left on my birthday and my flight got delayed like 50 times, I got deplaned twice. I was supposed to leave at 12:30 and left at 8:00. So I lost a planned half a day. Oh, well, at least my flight was entirely cancelled. Sandy and his family wasn’t due to arrive until Friday night, so during the day Chad R, the Rev and I watched movies. Chad and I indulged our lonely taste for bad dramas. Thus we started, off YouTube, with X, Y and Zee (1972). It’s a romantic triangle film with blowsy wife Elizabeth Taylor trying to fend off her husband Michael Caine’s young lover Susannah York. Taylor chews the scenery, Caine does his patented I’m quiet NOW I’M YELLING act. York underplays. It was pretty delightful if you like that sort of thing, which I do.
Our first monster appeared in Hercules and the Captive Women, most famous now for being a MST3K subject. It was bog standard Hercules stuff, meaning it was pretty great. Could have used more monsters, though. Still, the man-in-suit transforming Lizard Man fight was wonderful. Available on a nifty Blu Ray from Kino Lorber.
