These guys have been rebooted in a major way recently, but I don't know, as fantastic as the make-up and prosthetics are now, I still kind of prefer the old clunkier version. Partly nostalgia, I'm sure, but also because they look less human.
This was pretty controversial at the time. The show was still considered kiddie fare at the time, and this freaked a lot of youngsters out. Parents were concerned, but the kids actually loved it, of course. It heralded a new, more horror-oriented bent for the program.
