The word is out. They are remaking Blue Thunder. And the best part is they are going to update it for a modern age.

Meh.

The update will be Blue Thunder being a drone that haunts the skies. They'll probably keep the angle were government agents are assassinating opponents to the drone program.

But I don't get how this was going to work. The climax of the first film had Roy Schneider's Frank Murphy being chased all over the skies of Los Angles. There was a lot of tension that he would get shot down by the military and his arch nemesis. Of which, the final showdown was very satisfying.

I just don't see how that is going to work with some guy in a cargo container controlling Blue Thunder by remote control. Unless its Blue Thunder chasing Frank Murphy all over the skies of LA. Wasn't that already done for the extra 24 season? In that case, why even call it Blue Thunder when the premise is so far removed from the original.

I think this marks the official line were they are just wringing every little bit of the nostalgia for the 80's gets crossed.

BTW, I hear they are remaking Robetech and MacGuyver.

Oh gawd......... this could be good but I'm betting it will be awful...

I've heard about the MacGuyver remake. Supposedly it stars a female MacGuyver as some sort of inspiration for women to get into tech fields. Again it could be good but it sounds like more preachy 'you go girl!' attitude and less about fun and entertainment.
