He's probably not as well known as Rick Baker, Rob Bottin, Tom Savini or Stan Winston, but I think they all learned from him. Most of his stuff was so well done that people honestly didn't know it was makeup (e.g. Max von Sydow in The Exorcist, Marlon Brando in The Godfather).
