I think the author must have been confused because Crichton directed the movie version of Coma (but I’m guessing you guys realized that, heh).

I found the review amusing, and I agree with a lot of it, though as Amy Dickinson pointed out, there are some problems in the movie that resulted from simply skipping over details in the novel (like the coral thing).

Also, Edmonds, Edmonds? should be spelled Edmunds, Edmunds?

Still being fair, I concede that Crichton was the author behind Andromeda Strain, Westworld, and Coma.

I thought Robin Cook wrote Coma.

This review is not too long at all. It needed to be as long as it is to detail everything that is wrong with the film. I have seen it, and I know.

(Alsoâ€“ in case you didn’t realiseâ€“ it IS actually possible to criticise a piece of writing without personally insulting the author. I’m just saying.)

Excellent review, glad it was so in-depth because it means I don’t have to bother watching the film for any reason at all now, even “I wonder how they did this scene?” curiousity.

I’m with the Confabulist here. Too long? Nah. I, for one, read through it several times already, without a problem. Maybe it *does* take almost as long, or even longer, than watching the movie itself, but the movie isn’t half as amusing. And if it was, it wouldn’t be here. :)

Heck, I’ve re-read the review for Trial of Billy Jack numerous times. Let the folks who think *this* one is long chew through that. ;)

So, to summarize: This review’s just fine. It’s just that not everybody’s up for the sort of in depth maiming movies like this one deserve.

Excellent review. Don’t mind the moronic sheeple who complain that it’s too long. If there’s a real future for the internet, it’s in the long tail like yourself providing meaningful content like this.

Apropos of the subtitle of your blog, I will note that the “bottom” of the bell curve contains both really bad and really good movies. Perhaps you mean the “leftmost portion”?
