Obviously the action moves to the countryside for the same reason later Godzilla movies (e.g. Godzilla vs. Megalon) mostly did – miniature cities are a hell of a lot more difficult to create and film.

I’m from Calcutta, India, and I remember watching this on late-night television about 20 years ago. Since we had a black-and-white set at the time and there was only one (government-controlled) channel on air, even a film like this felt like a veritable treat. SCTVâ€™s Andrea Martin? See, that proves it’s in Canada. Maybe they could combine this movie with others from the SCTV cast. Such, Canadian Bacon 2: The Return of Candy or Strange Brew 2: What’s in the Freezer. Actually, compared to this movie, those sound awesome.

P.S. I actually thought Canadian Bacon wasn’t that bad, but I don’t go to McDonald’s expecting Ruth Chris. But, what can I say … I also like Boris and Natasha, and Speed Zone. OTOH, I don’t like Nothing but Trouble (ah.. the Chevy Chase rule), however that does have Digital Underground in it.

PPS. I guess this comment didn’t have a whole lot about the movie itself. Maybe, I should be an Italian movie directer.

Although the name of Canada’s tenth province is correctly spelled “Newfoundland,” it’s actually pronounced more like “Newfin-land.” The fact they got that right leads me to believe this movie was dubbed by (and perhaps for) Canadians.

I guess it has been a few months since I saw the Original King Kong but, doesn’t seem that many of the cliches involving the “girl”/”gorilla”* relationship are not part of the original?

I mean Fay Wray seems terrified of Kong and not shedding any tears for him at the end.

*quotes are for surrogates like this movie and the guy in King Kong Lives.
